The Deroyal 46-IV22 – ALGIDEX AG + I.V. Patch Dressings is a sterile patch made of polyurethane foam coated with an ionic silver alginate and maltodextrin matrix. It provides a sustained antimicrobial activity in the dressing for up to seven days against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms. This patch is ideal for managing exudating wounds, including abrasions, lacerations, dermal wounds, donor sites, first- and second-degree burns, surgical incisions, vascular access sites, pressure ulcers stage I-IV, stasis ulcers, and venous ulcers.
The patch provides a quick and sustained antimicrobial barrier against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms for up to seven days. It effectively reduces bacterial colonization associated with catheter-related infections and absorbs moisture around the catheter insertion site. The silver side of the patch is wound-facing with a gentle, non-adherent foam backing.
However, the patch should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to alginates or on patients with sensitivity to silver or silver compounds. It is also not suitable for use on third-degree burns, ulcers resulting from infections, lesions in patients with active vasculitis, and should not be surgically implanted.
To apply, place the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch with the silver matrix touching the catheter and skin. Secure the patch in place with a retention dressing such as gauze, transparent film, or tape. The patch may be worn for up to seven days. To remove, simply lift the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch from the catheter and discard according to institutional policy.
