Your brace is also breathable and waterproof (so you don’t have to worry about it getting wet when you shower). Apply a small amount of lotion to your tattoo (brand doesn’t matter) as long as it’s not scented like Jergens or Aveno. This is completely normal, so don’t freak out. First and foremost, Saniderm drastically reduces the risk of contaminants entering the wound site of a fresh tattoo.
For these reasons, it is highly discouraged to bathe, swim, or completely dive a tattoo dressed in saniderm.
How long does Saniderm stay on the tattoo?
I worked with Saniderm for 3 days and only took it off because the ink leaked underneath and I desperately wanted to see the tattoo again. During this time, fluid (plasma, ink, blood) will accumulate under the dressing. This is normal and should be included in the saniderm. According to Saniderm, you should wear your first saniderm tattoo bandage for between 8 and 24 hours.
Can Saniderm ruin a tattoo?
During this phase, your body pushes excess ink and plasma to the surface, which prevents the adhesive from sticking to the freshly tattooed area. If you removed your saniderm cover prematurely, or it peeled off on its own and exposed your tattoo and you don’t have enough saniderm for a replacement, you have two options to ensure that your tattoo heals properly and vividly. Reports suggest that tattoo colors remain more vibrant after applying Saniderm than tattoos that have been healed by other aftercare products.
