Materials management is a logistics career similar to supply chain management, where professionals are hired to oversee purchasing decisions. In healthcare, materials managers focus on ensuring that their medical facility is properly equipped with the right products and devices. While hospitals can have multiple employees to help stock up on supplies, this role is usually part of a nurse’s job description. A caregiver, sometimes referred to as a nursing assistant, helps provide primary non-medical care to patients and manages care.

Primary care includes helping patients bathe and grooming, transporting, dressing and undressing, and serving meals. Hospital manager positions include titles such as hospital administrators, patient care providers, and practice managers.
