With a highly absorbent knit construction, the sterile Dynarex gauze pads provide adequate compression without constriction, stay in place with minimal tape, and conform to difficult body contours to keep wounds clean and dry.
What is a gauze sponge used for?
They are usually made of gauze and are used to absorb blood and other fluids, as well as to clean wounds. The doctor unfolds a 4×4 gauze sponge to its full length and folds it in half so that it appears to be an 8-inch tape. Surgical sponges that remain in the body cavities after surgery can cause complications and are a common type of surgical failure. Most smaller wounds and cuts produce little exudate; a simple 2×2 or 4×4 gauze sponge or even a band-aid is sufficient for this purpose.
