What are these covers called?

Made in the USA, these overshoes were originally developed for construction workers and contractors but are now also available for everyday use. One is like an oversized shoe or a low boot made of thick rubber with a heavy sole and instep that is designed for heavy use. Spats are different from gaiters, which are garments worn over both the lower pant leg and over the shoe. In the United States, the word galoshes can be used interchangeably with boot, especially with a rubberized boot.
