Objective: Improve GHG Emissions Monitoring
Our GHG Emissions Monitoring Policy improves the tracking of greenhouse gas emissions across all LAC Health facilities and operations. A robust monitoring system will help us:

As part of our climate change strategy, LAC Health has set GHG emissions reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science. Our commitment to a sustainable future is reflected in these goals:

How we will reduce emissions
To achieve our targets we have a multi-faceted approach that covers all aspects of our operations:
- Energy Efficiency: We are upgrading our facilities with energy efficient lighting, HVAC systems and medical equipment to reduce energy consumption.
- Renewable Energy: We are installing solar panels on suitable facilities and entering into power purchase agreements for renewable energy to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
- Sustainable Transportation: We are transitioning our vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid and encouraging staff to use low emission transport.
- Waste Reduction: We have waste reduction and recycling programs in place across all facilities to reduce emissions from waste management.
- Sustainable Procurement: We work with our suppliers to reduce emissions in our supply chain, prioritising low carbon and local products where possible.
- Telemedicine: We are expanding our telemedicine services to reduce patient and staff travel and further reduce our carbon footprint.
